The objective of this project was to create an art piece that people would want to display in their homes or on their computers. A piece to shine happiness on your everyday life. This piece had to be created using the printmaking techniques of a wood block, inks, and a french press. This piece needed to be big and vibrant and say just one word. I wanted the colors to mingle with the word in harmony. I also wanted to create the word love by my own hand. It needed to be bright, big, bold, and vivid. Like love. I created the word in illustrator using a wacom pad. I started with my own
handwriting, a thin lined skeleton of the word ‘love. I slowly built on to the skeleton, making the letters thicker and more bubble like. I got the mirror image cut out with a laser cutter, and blended inks on the wood block for a gradient of vivid warm colors. The wood grain is a wonderful pop and a nice contrast to the concept. This piece can be displayed in ones home or displayed on their computers, or printed on a shirt to carry the message where ever you may go. It is a nice way to be surrounded by a positive message and emotion.
