The objective of this project was to represent a word or a phrase
in an actual environment, in a third dimensional way, meaning, it had to actually be built and exist in an environment. We needed to choose a word or a phrase from a song or story that we picked in the beginning of the process. I wanted to choose a word or a phrase that represented most of what the song was talking about (Howl by Florence and the Machine). Being inspired by love, that led me to thing of weddings. When I thought of weddings I was reminded of all the beautiful fabrics that are at a wedding. This
led me to the movement of fabric and how effective it can be in
captivating an audience. I was inspired by models in dresses swimming in water. The way the fabric moved was captivating
and beautiful, like love. However the word in itself possesses the theme of jealousy and hate that can breed from a romantic relationship. The colors are warm, but the background is complete darkness. The movement and lack of control of the letters proved to be the most challenging part of the project, but proved to create tension. Focusing on emotion, I wanted to drown the letters in water and shake them to represent the fast tempo of the song.
